Black Friday is one event where this Bench Sitter has never been too excited. It does take all kinds of folks to make the world go ‘round, but getting up in the wee hours to “shop” ranks in the top three of the 100 things I like the least. The others have something to do with a root canal and check of the lower intestine via a colonoscope.

We know of people who drive two- or three-hundred miles, go without sleep, get pushed and shoved around by crowds and generally wait for 30 minutes or longer in a check-out line. They do all this to pay for things they really didn’t intend to buy, or gifts that will end up in the back of someone’s closet until the next garage sale.

Good for them. They stimulate the economy!
