Pointe Coupee Electric suggests ways to save on lighting
News from Post South:

“There are some basic, common-sense steps that can help you save a lot of money and energy when lighting your home” says Joseph H. “Jodie” Cotten Jr., general manager for Pointe Coupee Electric Membership Corporation. “A few simple things done around the house can truly make a difference in your electric usage.”

-Turn off any lights you’re not using.

- Enjoy the daylight! Sit near a window to do tasks that require lighting, and adjust your  blinds to reflect sunlight off your ceilings.

- Remember when painting and decorating your home that light colors reflect light. Lamp shades with white liners will give more light, as will a lamp placed in a corner, where its light will reflect off two walls.

- Simply dusting your light bulbs can provide 50% more light!

-Take note of any lamp or light fixture that you burn three hours in a row on a regular basis. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs in these lights.

-Where you use incandescent bulbs, install dimmer switches. You may find that a lower level of light is fine.
